FAQ

Be sure to read the entire Event Details page in addition to this FAQ to make sure you have all the necessary info about the Will Run For Beer 5k!

Packet pickup/registration is from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., so we suggest arriving no later than 7:45 a.m. to ensure you have time to park, pick up your bib, and get to the starting line before 9:30 a.m.
Please plan to line up in the start corral by 9:15 a.m. (the race starts at 9:30).
Participants will wear a bib number with an electronically-readable chip affixed. As runners cross the finish line they run over a mat with a sensor that recognizes and records each runner’s “chip time”. Bib numbers must be attached to the FRONT of your shirt to be read accurately.
Yes! We simply ask that you obey the rules of the course and walk no more than two people abreast so that others may pass easily. Walkers will start at the same time as runners but must start at the back of the pack.
Because wearing headphones greatly reduces your ability to hear race marshals and car traffic, we strongly discourage their use on the course.
Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on the course or at the fair for safety reasons.
Yes! We simply ask that you start at the back of the pack for safety reasons.
The course will not be closed to car traffic but there will be runner lanes with cones, signs, and race marshals directing traffic.
Prizes are awarded to the top 3 men and women finishers overall, and to the top 3 men and women in the following categories: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Prizes will not be mailed and must be picked up at the red “Awards” tent after the race.

Prizes usually consist of Smuttynose and Loco Races schwag.

We’re sorry, but there are no refunds, transfers or deferrals.
Yes, There will be a free bag check near the Registration tent. Articles of clothing that are left unclaimed after the race will be donated to a local homeless shelter. Loco Races is not liable for any losses or theft that runners may incur. Please be sure to pick up your bag by noon.
There are no changing facilities or showers available, so please show up ready to run.
The course is not particularly spectator-friendly as it is one big loop. The course isn’t closed to car traffic but we strongly discourage any cars on the course for the safety of our runners. If you do drive out to watch the race, you’ll most likely be stuck in runner traffic and not get back in time to see the finish, so we recommend staying in the festival area to see both the start and the finish.
Shirts are available in women’s (S-XL) and men’s (S-XXL) sizes. You select a size during online registration but we allow you to choose a different size at packet pick-up because we know that sometimes shirts fit a little differently than you expected. However, because people can change their minds at the last minute, we don’t actually know how many of each size to order. We do our best to estimate (and we even order extras), but sometimes we run out of a particular size. So, if it’s really important that you get a specific size, be sure to arrive at packet pick-up as early as possible on Sunday.
Shirts will not be mailed out.
